Prayer Update #1

Greetings!

Thank you for your support and partnership as we go to Japan to share the gospel!  As we prepare to leave this Friday, we're excited for what God will teach us and how He will work.  Here's a picture of our last team dinner before going to Japan. 

Trip at a Glance

Who: 57 local Japanese children, ages 5 to 11 (On average ~40 children each day)

What: 7-day American Homestay Day Camp, a 1-day Nasu church children's outdoor event, house visits for families that express interest, and helping with college outreach outings and international worship nights.  

When: July 19th - August 3rd

Where: Otawara Christian Church in Otawara, Japan 

Why: Partnering with the Otawara Church to glorify Christ and share the gospel in Japan -- for God to use the day camp to create a positive relationship between Japanese families and the church and to start a children’s ministry at the Otawara Church

Day at a Glance

- Personal Quiet Time

- Meet with Pastor Tomio and his wife Pat

- Day Camp begins 

- Singspiration (teach children an English worship song)

- English Lesson 

- Games & Activities

- Bible Lesson (taught in Japanese by Otawara church members)  

- Lunch Time (kids will be involved in making the lunches)

- Crafts

- Games & Activities

- American Snack

- Closing Ceremony (present prizes for teams/kids that won games or had good behavior)

- Day Camp ends

- Meet with Pat & Tomio

- Prepare lessons and activities for following day

Prayer

We'd appreciate your prayer over the following areas.

• The Holy Spirit's work in the hearts of the Japanese children and their families as well as in our team and the Otawara Church
• God's blessing as we serve with the Otawara Church members -- for God to provide effective communication.  
• Our team 
• Each member's personal time with God -- especially when we feel tired or tempted to think we don't have time to spare
• Strength, energy, and dependence upon God throughout our time in Japan
• Peace and trust in God when we feel unprepared or anxious
• Unity and mutual encouragement 
• To stand firm in our faith and for God's protection against the devil's schemes (Ephesians 6:10-12)

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
